Reversing Female Sterilization

The most common form of permanent female sterilization is tubal ligation which can sometimes be reversed surgically. Success rates vary. IVF may be more effective in producing pregnancy in certain cases.

Reversing Male Sterilization

Once done vasectomy is potentially reversible, but the success of reversing the procedure varies. Scarring from the initial procedure can cause irreversible damage to the vas deferens making a reversal of the vasectomy impossible. Pregnancy rates after reversing a vasectomy can be reduced by up to 50%.

Cryopreserving sperm prior to a vasectomy is always an option.
