Following your treatment, you will undergo beta hCG testing through the public healthcare system. If the test is positive, you will transfer your ongoing care to a physician of your choice. Many of AART’s physicians practice obstetrics and you may be transferred to them for your ongoing care.
If you are experiencing bleeding after your embryo transfer, please send a portal message to our nursing team. After hours, please refer to the Emergency Department. Some patients experiencing complications early in pregnancy may be referred to the Early Pregnancy Complication Clinic (EPCC) at the IWK, which is available on weekdays during the day.
AART does not typically offer ultrasounds before 8 weeks of pregnancy because an ultrasound can only see a gestational sac after 6 weeks of pregnancy and is not often a reassuring tool early in pregnancy.
If you experience a miscarriage, AART is able to prescribe medication if necessary.
Patients may book a follow-up appointment after treatment to review the outcome of the cycle and discuss any changes for treatment that are suggested for the future. Our multi-disciplinary team reviews each cycle and provides recommendations that your physician will discuss with you at the follow-up appointment.
