Referring Patients
People should be referred to AART if they are:
Under 35 years old and have not conceived after having regular unprotected sex for one year.
Over 35 years old and have not conceived after having regular unprotected sex for six months.
Having regular unprotected sex for less than 6 months, but not having periods (not ovulating).
Considering using donor sperm, eggs or embryos.
About to undergo treatment for cancer.
Considering fertility preservation prior to gender affirmation surgery.
Considering elective egg freezing.
How to refer:
Any licensed physician including family physicians, urologists and gynecologists may refer patients to AART. Most Initial Assessment appointments for patients with a valid Health Card from NS, NB, PEI and Newfoundland are covered through your provincial healthcare program if a physician referral is provided to AART in advance of your appointment.

AART recommends that the following tests are ordered for all patients being referred for an initial assessment.

Day 3 FSH (to be done between day 2 and day 4 of menstrual cycle)
Day 3 E2 & LH
TSH
Prolactin (early AM)
Rubella and Varicella

Patients who are planning to have an IVF cycle will need to have the following additional tests:

Male Infertility
Dr. Jesse Ory is holding regular clinics for male fertility assessment and services such as reversal of vasectomy, management of retrograde ejaculation and aspiration of sperm from the male reproductive tract with view to treatment of IVF and ICSI.
